Fine art prints using traditional stone lithography and lino cut.
Scarlett Rebecca is a fine art printmaker whose work focuses on combining portraiture with patterns found in nature. Scarlett will be exhibiting for the first time at this year’s NEH Xmas Open Studios, she will be promoting her printmaking courses and selling a selection of lithographic prints and relief prints from Brighton Etch studio, Unit 3, Level 3 NEH.
Stone Lithography courses are now happening in Brighton. Lithography is a form of printmaking that has been favoured by many artists including Käthe Kollwitz, Paula Rego, David Hockney, M.C. Escher and more.
Scarlett Rebecca, technical demonstrator for lithography in Fine Art Printmaking at Brighton University, is now running weekend courses in this traditional technique from Brighton's creative hub; New England House. This course is the only one of it's kind in Brighton and Scarlett hopes to popularise this varied and sensitive art form.
Drawing straight onto a prepared slab of limestone surface, this method of printmaking allows for an enormous range of mark making, capturing detail with exquisite subtleties.
Scarlett also runs Kitchen Lithography workshops, a non-toxic form of printmaking where you create immediate prints from drawings made from chocolate, soap and butter!
Location: Level 3, Unit 3
